Who we are

Sensory Spark is operated by Sensory Spark, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom (“we”, “us”, “our”). For everything described on this page we are the data controller.

What Sensory Spark provides

Sensory Spark is a digital service for educators and families supporting children with SEND. It includes free sensory games and printables, curriculum-aligned activity generation, premium tools (Speak Spark, All About Me, Social Story Studio and Spark 11+), downloadable curriculum packages, and interactive CPD training for school staff.

Everything is a digital good — there is nothing physical to ship.

Credits, subscriptions and purchases

Free content — the games, printables and guides are free to use, and activity previews are always free. You can generate and read a full activity preview as many times as you like at no cost.

Credits are bought in advance and spent one at a time on PDF downloads. Credits never expire. If a download fails because of a technical error on our end, the credit is refunded automatically.

Subscriptions for the premium tools renew automatically at the interval shown at checkout until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from the Manage subscription link in the footer — access continues to the end of the period you've paid for.

One-time purchases — curriculum packages, activity packs and lifetime access — give you the access described at the point of sale, with no recurring charge.

Refunds

Credits spent on successful downloads are non-refundable. Because you can preview every activity in full, for free and as many times as you like before spending a credit, the free preview is our consumer protection mechanism. Please use it.

Unused credits are refundable within 14 days of purchase.

Subscriptions and one-time purchases are refundable within 14 days of purchase under UK consumer law, unless you have already downloaded the digital files included in that purchase. Email support@sensoryspark.co.uk within the window.

How you may use what you buy

Personal, family or single-setting use is included as standard: use the tools with the children you support, and print as many copies as you need for them. You may not resell our materials, upload them to another platform or resource-sharing site, or use them to build a competing product.

Schools licensing the training platform for their staff are covered by the school licence.

Privacy — what we hold and why

We take privacy seriously, especially given the children this service supports. This is everything we store, why we store it, our lawful basis under UK GDPR, and how long we keep it.

What we holdWhyLawful basisHow long
Account email address (and name, if you give one)To log you in, unlock what you've paid for, and send receipts and service messagesContractWhile your account is open, then 12 months

We do not sell or share your data, and we never use it for advertising. Our analytics are privacy-respecting and cookieless — page views and feature interactions only, with no cross-site tracking and no advertising cookies.

Children's data — the important part

We do not collect, store or process any child's personal data on our servers. There are no accounts for children, and we never ask for a child's name, school, date of birth or any identifying detail.

Several of our tools are deliberately built so that information about a child never leaves the device you are using:

  • All About Me and Social Story Studio are session-only. What you type exists on your screen and in the document you print — it is never transmitted to us and is gone when you close the page.
  • Speak Spark stores your boards, custom words and any photos you add in your own browser's storage on your own device. We cannot see them, and they are removed if you clear your browser data or reset the boards.
  • Spark 11+ modules are session-only, with outputs produced as printables rather than saved records.
  • The AI board builder sends only the situation you type to our AI provider. Please describe the situation, not the child — there is no need to include a name or any identifying information.

If you print a pupil profile or a communication board, the resulting document is yours and your setting's responsibility, and your organisation is the controller for it.

Staff training records

The training platform is for adults. When you complete a module we record the name you chose to put on your certificate, your account email, the module, your quiz result, the time you spent and a unique certificate reference — so that your certificate can be independently verified for a staff file or an inspection.

Where your school holds a licence, a named administrator at that school can see the completion records of their own staff. Records are visible to no one else. You can ask us to correct or delete your record at any time; we will explain if we must retain a minimal verification entry.

Who processes data for us

We use a small number of trusted providers. Each is bound by a data processing agreement.

WhoWhat they do for usWhere
Base44Hosting, database, login and app analyticsEU / US — covered by the UK IDTA and standard contractual clauses
StripePayment processing and subscription billing. We never see or store your card detailsUK / EU / US — Stripe is certified for international transfers
AnthropicPowers the activity generator and the AI board builder. Only your typed request and anonymous selections are sent — never a child's detailsUS — covered by standard contractual clauses
ElevenLabsUsed by us in advance to record the voice packs used in the games and Speak Spark. No user or child data is ever sentUS — no personal data transferred
Google (Gmail)Sends our own sales notification emails to usEU / US — covered by standard contractual clauses

Where data is processed outside the UK, that transfer is covered by UK-approved safeguards — the International Data Transfer Agreement or standard contractual clauses.

Users in the United States

Speak Spark US is sold to adults. Accounts belong to the paying adult, children never need an account, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 — so we do not operate a service directed at children under COPPA. Boards and photos stay on your own device.

If you are a US resident and would like to know what we hold, or want it deleted, email support@sensoryspark.co.uk and we will action it. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under US state privacy laws.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask us to:

  • give you a copy of everything we hold about you
  • correct anything that's wrong
  • delete your data, where we're not legally required to keep it
  • export your data in a portable format
  • restrict or object to how we use it, or withdraw consent you've given

Email support@sensoryspark.co.uk and we'll respond within one month, free of charge. If you're unhappy with how we've handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Keeping data safe

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access to records is enforced at the database level, so each account can only reach its own data, and administrative access is limited to the service owner. Payments are handled entirely by Stripe — we never see or store card details.

If a breach ever affected your personal data, we would report it to the ICO within 72 hours where required, and tell you directly without undue delay if there were a risk to you.

Responsibility and safety

Our activities, tools and training are designed to be safe and appropriate for the described setting and learner profile, but every child and every environment is different. You are responsible for reviewing each activity and carrying out your own risk assessment before using it.

Our training is awareness-level continuing professional development. It does not replace statutory or setting-specific training such as safeguarding, manual handling, first aid or the administration of medication, and it is not a regulated qualification.

Nothing on Sensory Spark is medical, clinical, diagnostic or therapeutic advice. Speak Spark is a communication tool, not a clinical intervention, and it is not a substitute for assessment by a speech and language therapist.

Availability and liability

We work hard to keep the service running but cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Subject to that, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email to registered users, and the date at the top of this page will always tell you when it last changed. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere, you keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer protections in your own country.
